Parikia is the practical default; Naoussa is the evening-led choice
For a first stay in Paros without a car, start with Parikia. It is the island’s main passenger port and the bus station is beside the port. Choose Naoussa if its harbour restaurants and bars are the main reason you are coming and you accept a transfer on arrival.
Aliki and Piso Livadi make sense when you want most days to revolve around a smaller coastal settlement. Lefkes suits a village-led inland stay, not someone who expects to walk from the room to a beach. None of these names alone establishes a quiet room, easy luggage access or a particular price.

| Your decision | Best reason to choose it | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Parikia | Main ferry port, town facilities and bus connections | Choose the actual street carefully if you want distance from port activity |
| Naoussa | Harbour meals and late evenings close to your room | Arrival transfer; central bars can matter for noise |
| Aliki | A fishing-village coastal base with a family-holiday focus | Island outings depend on buses or arranged transport |
| Piso Livadi / Logaras | An east-coast base linked to the village and beach corridor | A separate journey from the main ferry port |
| Lefkes | Inland village lanes and time away from the coast | No beach on the doorstep; a sloping village setting |
Parikia: simplest if you arrive by ferry and want to explore
Parikia is the capital and commercial passenger port. The municipality places the KTEL station beside the port, with routes towards Naoussa, Aliki and the inland-to-east-coast villages. That combination reduces the number of separate transfers in a mixed stay.
Use it for a short visit, an early ferry departure or a holiday with several bus outings. Choose a room for its actual route from the port and stop, rather than the word Parikia alone. A place on the outskirts can lose much of the convenience that made you choose the town.
Municipality of Paros: bus routes and port-side stationNaoussa: choose it for evenings, not for the main ferry arrival
Naoussa is on the north coast. Its old harbour buildings now include taverns, cafés and ouzo restaurants, and the municipality describes bars that draw visitors into the evening. Stay here when you want those evenings within walking distance of your room.
Do not confuse the fishing harbour with the main inter-island passenger port at Parikia. Add the Parikia–Naoussa journey to your arrival and departure plan. If sleep matters more than a harbour-front address, ask which way the bedroom faces and whether bars sit below or beside it. For beaches such as Kolymbithres or Santa Maria, plan a separate outing rather than assuming the entire bay is walkable from the old harbour.

Aliki is a fishing village on the south side of the island, promoted by the municipality as a family-holiday base. It suits travellers who want meals and coastal time in the same settlement rather than a different outing every morning.
There is a Parikia–Aliki bus route, but a route’s existence does not make a late arrival or every evening return convenient. Choose the room near the village services you will actually use. An isolated property advertised near Aliki can be a different holiday from staying in the village itself.
Municipality of Paros: Aliki and other villagesPiso Livadi and Logaras: an east-coast alternative
Piso Livadi is the port settlement of Marpissa, with accommodation and places to eat. It lies on the bus corridor through the east-coast settlements; Logaras is another named stop on that corridor. Consider this area when you want an east-coast stay rather than commuting from Parikia to that part of the island repeatedly.
Budget for the journey from Parikia’s ferry port. Distinguish Punda Beach on the east-coast route from Punda port for Antiparos: the current bus timetable lists them separately. Choosing the wrong one can send a car-free arrival to the opposite side of the island.
KTEL Paros: separate east-coast and Antiparos-port routesLefkes: stay inland only if that is the point of the trip
Lefkes is one of Paros’s largest inland villages and its highest-altitude settlement. The village setting suits travellers who want to spend time in the lanes and countryside rather than start each day on the sand.
A bus route connects it with Parikia and the east-coast corridor, but beach time becomes an outing. For a short first visit, a coastal base and a Lefkes day trip is the simpler choice. If you choose to sleep in Lefkes, confirm the luggage approach and steps with the property; do not read a short map distance as a flat walk.
Municipality of Paros: Lefkes geographyCan you stay in Paros without a car?
Yes, if the room, meals and your regular activities sit near a useful bus route. Parikia is the clearest starting point; Naoussa also works if you intend to spend evenings there. The dated KTEL timetable retrieved on 24 October 2026 covers 19–30 October 2026 and includes Parikia–Naoussa, Parikia–Aliki and the Lefkes/east-coast corridor.
That is evidence for those routes in that period, not a winter or next-summer timetable. Do not carry summer late-night assumptions into another month. Compare the last return in the direction you need, and keep an arranged transfer as an option when the essential arrival or departure does not fit.
KTEL Paros: timetable and validity datesChoose the location before comparing room rates
Compare like for like: the same dates, cancellation terms, room type and all necessary transfers. There is no verified fixed rule here that Parikia is cheap or Naoussa is expensive. A lower room quote outside a village may cost more once you add ordinary evening journeys.
For a first visit, keep one base unless two deliberately different stays justify the move. Choose Parikia for transport convenience, Naoussa for harbour evenings, Aliki or Piso Livadi for local coastal days, and Lefkes for an inland focus.
