Skopelos to Mantoudi ferry: departure ports and onward Athens travel

Choose the correct Skopelos departure quay, reach Kymasi and arrange the Athens connection separately, especially before a flight.

Plan the Skopelos to Mantoudi journey from your room

For the Skopelos to Mantoudi ferry, first establish whether your sailing leaves Skopelos Town or Glossa/Loutraki. Then arrange the journey from your accommodation to that specific quay. Arrival is at Kymasi harbour on Evia, outside Mantoudi town; Athens and its airport are separate onward journeys.

A morning in Glossa village does not put you at the Loutraki embarkation point, and a room in Chora does not make a Glossa departure a local walk. Choose the available sailing and island transfer together. If a flight follows, work backwards from the airport requirement through the road connection and ferry arrival rather than choosing a boat by its departure time alone.

Which return services are supported by the current evidence?

Skopelosweb’s 16 October 2026 update reports the Mantoudi connection operating twice weekly, initially with SEAJETS’ Sporades Star. Treat this as dated regional guidance about the route, not a confirmed departure for your return day. Search the direction from your exact Skopelos port to Mantoudi in the operator’s booking system. An outward sailing from Mantoudi does not establish a matching return every day.

The Ferries.gr summer Speedrunner Jet 2 programme ends on 14 September 2026. Its return tables distinguish Skopelos Town from Glossa and vary by period and weekday. They are not an October timetable. Likewise, a generic calendar offering future dates below an old table does not extend that table’s service dates.

The journey duration depends on the vessel, departure port and calls made before Mantoudi. Read the arrival time on your dated return result; do not reverse an outward timetable or use a headline shortest crossing to calculate your Athens arrival.

Staying in ChoraLook for a Skopelos Town departure, or price and time a transfer to the ticketed alternative.Waiting at the main harbour for a ferry booked from Glossa.
Staying in Glossa or LoutrakiFor a Glossa sailing, reach the quay at Loutraki; arrange the downhill transfer if staying in the village.Using the village square as the boarding point.
Staying in Panormos, Neo Klima or another beach baseMatch the available island bus or booked road transfer to the actual departure port.Assuming all buses reach both harbours or connect with every ferry.
An announced Agnontas departureFollow the confirmed changed-port instructions and establish how to reach that harbour.Assuming transport to the replacement port is automatically included.

Reach the island quay before boarding starts

Skopelos Transports’ winter routes started on 1 October 2026. The central line links Chora, Stafylos, Agnontas, Panormos, the west-coast stops, Glossa and Loutraki. Use the timetable for your weekday and boarding stop, not the departure from the opposite end of the line. Some services can end before the harbour you need.

If a bus cannot reach the ticketed quay with the required boarding margin, reserve a taxi or accommodation transfer. Returning a rental car also needs a confirmed handover location: a town office and a different ferry harbour are not interchangeable. Keep your ticket, travel documents and essentials with you rather than buried in a bag that may be difficult to reach.

SEAJETS requires foot passengers at the embarkation area at least 30 minutes before departure and vehicles in the loading area 60 minutes before departure. Build those margins into the room-to-port transfer, and follow any stricter instructions for your actual sailing.

At Kymasi: coach, collection or your parked car

Tell a driver collecting you to meet at Kymasi ferry port, not merely in Mantoudi town. If your own car is parked ashore, include retrieval and loading your bags before the road journey. If it travelled on the ferry, leave time for disembarkation rather than treating the advertised arrival as your departure on the road.

For the coach, Skopelosweb describes the KTEL Evias connection between Kymasi and Athens through Chalkida and points to the bus company’s booking service. Its Athens station information is for the Liosion area, not the airport. The official timetable was unavailable during the 25 October check, so this guide does not promise a coach after your sailing or quote a fare.

Before leaving Skopelos, secure the specific return bus or other collection arrangement. Ask where it boards at Kymasi, whether it serves your named ferry, and which Athens station it reaches. If no dated coach is available, compare a pre-arranged road transfer or a different ferry day rather than arriving at a remote quay with only an outward bus assumption.

Should you connect to an Athens flight the same day?

An Athens overnight before a separate flight is the more forgiving choice when your return depends on a limited ferry programme, a road connection and another transfer to the airport. This is a planning recommendation, not a mandatory rule. No universal safe connection time can cover a changed harbour, late ferry, missed coach and road delay.

For a same-day attempt, obtain the actual Kymasi arrival, the confirmed onward vehicle or coach, its Athens destination and the remaining airport journey. Apply your airline’s check-in and bag-drop requirements at the end of that chain. A ferry arrival in Evia is not an arrival in Athens, and Liosion bus station is not the airport.

If Mantoudi does not work on your date, compare the Volos return and its onward road journey; it reaches a different mainland gateway, not a substitute berth beside Kymasi. For a trip ending on Skiathos, consider a separate island stay before a flight from there, subject to actual flight and boat availability.

Reconfirm the departure port before leaving your base

Keep the mobile number and email on the ferry booking current. SEAJETS says these details are used for delay, cancellation and itinerary-change notifications and reserves the right to change schedules or substitute vessels. Read any message for a changed port as well as a changed time.

If the sailing is moved to Agnontas, establish the replacement embarkation point and transfer arrangement before heading to Chora or Loutraki. A regional description of occasional transfer buses is not a guarantee for your departure. Contact the issuing agent promptly about a cancelled sailing and the actual ticket conditions; do not assume a separate coach, hotel or flight is automatically rearranged.

There is no live fare or guaranteed onward connection quoted here. Book the return as a complete departure-day journey, including the correct island quay and collection at Kymasi.
