Mantoudi to Skopelos ferry: arrival ports, seasons and transfers

Leave from Kymasi, choose Skopelos Town or Loutraki/Glossa, and plan the Athens bus and island transfer around the actual sailing.

Which Mantoudi to Skopelos ferry should you choose?

Take a ferry from Mantoudi’s coastal harbour at Kymasi to the Skopelos port that best fits your accommodation, when a sailing is available for your date. Search Skopelos Town for a Chora stay and Glossa/Loutraki for the northwest of the island. They are different harbours, not two names for the same terminal.

For a foot passenger from Athens, the useful comparison is the complete journey: coach to Kymasi, ferry, then the trip from the island quay to your room. A shorter sea crossing to Loutraki can be a poor choice if your room is across the island in Chora and the final bus has already gone. For a driver, include a vehicle in the sailing search rather than relying on a passenger-only result.

Service and crossing time: summer and autumn differ

SEAJETS has a Sporades / Thessaly / Evia section on its 2026 routes page. Skopelosweb’s update dated 16 October 2026 reports the Mantoudi connection operating twice weekly, initially with Sporades Star. That is a dated regional service report, not proof of seats on a particular departure or a frequency promise for winter or 2027.

The Ferries.gr Speedrunner Jet 2 table ends on 14 September 2026. It illustrates why the port choice changes the crossing: one published summer sequence called at Skiathos, then Glossa, then Skopelos Town. Its times do not establish today’s duration. Compare the departure and arrival times on the same dated result, with the exact destination port and intermediate calls visible. Do not apply a summer high-speed crossing time to an autumn conventional ferry.

If no sailing appears for your day, compare another travel day or the Volos gateway. A flight to Skiathos followed by a separately booked boat is another approach, but adds an airport-to-harbour transfer and needs a workable onward departure.

Athens to the ferry: book Kymasi, not just Mantoudi

Skopelosweb identifies the KTEL Evias Athens–Chalkida–Kymasi connection and the Athens departure in the Liosion station area, at Rikaki 6. This is neither Kifissos bus station nor Athens airport. Kymasi is the ferry destination; a coach ending at Mantoudi town leaves a separate road transfer to the harbour.

The regional bus page describes coordination with selected ferries, but the official Athens–Kymasi timetable could not be retrieved during the 25 October check. No current bus departure or fare is confirmed here. Obtain the dated bus result before buying a ferry that depends on it. KTEL Evias is listed at +30 22210 20400; the useful questions are the exact boarding address, arrival at Kymasi port and whether that bus serves your named ferry.

For an airport arrival, add the journey into Athens and time to reach the coach station. If the flight cannot comfortably reach the confirmed bus, use an overnight rather than treating a flight landing as an immediate departure for Kymasi.

Tickets, cars and boarding at Kymasi

SEAJETS’ general terms require passengers at the embarkation area at least 30 minutes before departure and vehicles at the loading area 60 minutes before departure. These are boarding requirements, not extra time for reaching Kymasi from Athens. Use any more specific instructions issued with your sailing.

Check the names, date, vessel and destination port as soon as the ticket is issued. Carry the required travel documents and any proof for a discounted fare. Add the car during booking with the correct vehicle details; a berth for a person does not reserve garage space. For an electric or other alternative-fuel vehicle, read the carrier’s fuel and charge rules before travelling.

No current passenger or car fare is quoted here. Compare the actual dated fare with the coach or driving costs, island transfer and return sailing. A lower ticket price can disappear into an additional taxi if you select the wrong arrival port.

After landing: make the port-to-room journey work

At Skopelos Town, arrange a meeting point appropriate to the accommodation: a waterfront address and a room in the upper lanes have different luggage access. At Loutraki, meet a transfer at the harbour rather than assuming the boat arrives in Glossa village. The municipality places Glossa on the hill above Loutraki.

Skopelos Transports’ winter 2026–27 programme took effect on 1 October. Its main route connects Chora, the south- and west-coast stops, Glossa and Loutraki. That route does not mean a bus waits for every arriving ferry. Match the actual port arrival to the correct direction and day in the timetable; if there is no workable service, arrange a taxi or accommodation collection before boarding.

Keep arrival day local. A ferry plus an uncertain island transfer is a poor foundation for a timed excursion or an immediate second boat. Arrange the return independently once you know which island port and mainland connection you will use.
